MY JOURNEY

“The important thing is to never stop questioning.”

Albert Einstein

I am a high school junior living in Princeton, New Jersey. My passion lies in the natural sciences, particularly physics and biology. I also have a keen interest in economics and psychology, and I’m often lost in daydreams, earning me the reputation of being impractical. My bookshelf is dominated by detective novels from authors like Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, John Dickson Carr, and Ellery Queen. To tackle assignments and handle information, I’ve taught myself Java, Python, and R programming languages, enabling me to accomplish various tasks from class or my hobbies. Due to life circumstances, I am fluent in both English and Chinese, and I’ve dabbled in Portuguese and French over the years. While not a language prodigy, my love for Japanese animation “Detective Conan” has even allowed me to manage some basic Japanese.

Princeton, USA

14-17 years old

When I turned fourteen, driven by curiosity and a desire for a rigorous education, I convinced my family to let me attend a math and physics-focused high school in the United States. Now, I study at a boarding school in Princeton, New Jersey. Here, I’ve opened myself up to a broader world—both academically and personally. Beyond the natural sciences, I’ve delved into economics, gaining deeper insights into societal dynamics. Over the past three years, I’ve volunteered as an English tutor, assisting five Ukrainian and other international high school students. This experience has been immensely rewarding, teaching me as much as I’ve taught others.

Lisbon, Portugal

9-13 years old

At the age of ten, my family immigrated to Lisbon, Portugal, where we settled in the serene town of Sintra. Sintra, with its mist-shrouded mountains, feels like an enchanted realm—a perfect place for quiet study. Attending an American school at Sintra, I gradually developed an interest in natural science. Biographies of Newton and Einstein fueled my curiosity, solidifying my life’s direction. Science is the bedrock of civilization, and its principles hold the ultimate keys to settling all difficulties and cooling down any conflicts for human beings. The world, I believe, is an equation waiting for humanity to explore and uncover.

Beijing, China

0-8 years old

I was born in Beijing, China, and until fourth grade, I attended a Chinese school. Regrettably, my knowledge of classical Chinese poetry is minimal, and I can’t figure out the difference between Confucius and Laozi. Don’t even ask me about Bagua! As a child, I diligently studied piano, swimming, painting, table tennis, and chess under professional teachers. Chess, in particular, has remained my most significant hobby, and I occasionally participate in contests while spending countless hours on chess.com.
